Fatma Meral Horne was born in Istanbul in 1940. After graduating from the Department of Sociology at Istanbul University, she traveled over 49 countries for 12 years. She wrote articles for Hurriyet newspaper. In 1970, Horne learned batik art in Java, Indonesia. She has had more than 33 solo exhibitions in Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Turkey. She has held her workshop “Halk Sanatlar ile elele / Renkle Tasarımlar” (Hand-in hand with Folk Arts / Designs with Color) over 35 times at schools, universities, galleries, festivals, and associations. Horne has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Currently, she lives and continues her work in Antalya.
