Nurettin Taşkaya

Nurettin Taşkaya was born in Karaman in 1960. He graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at Kradeniz Technical University. He worked as a chief in a study project of Kılıçkaya and Çamlıgöze Dam constructions. In 2000, he retired and concentrated on his hobby, making handicrafts. With the support of his wife, Neşe Şehvar Taşkaya, he began making and selling gourd lamps of his own designs. Taşkaya raises gourds in a farm by himself. He makes, by hand, 100 to 150 gourd lamps monthly. His works became more artistic than hobbylike and have been exhibited in the United States, Canada, China and other countries and published in articles concerning art design.
