Füsun Onur was born in Istanbul in 1938. After finishing at Üsküdar American High School for Girls, in 1956, she studied at the atelier of Ali Hadi Bara in the Department of Sculpture of the Istanbul Academy of Applied Fine Art School in 1956-60. She received the Fulbright scholarship in 1962 and went to America. In 1963-1967, she was accepted and studied at Maryland Institution. After coming back to Turkey, she preferred to work independently and has been working at her own atelier in Kuzguncuk, Istanbul. She has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Onur has won many awards.
