Gülden Teztel was born in 1972 in Ankara and she took her first piano lessons at the age of five. She entered Prof. Ova Sünder′s class at Istanbul Municipal Conservatory in 1978 and completed the conservatory′s part-time program. During her education, she participated in the master classes of Biret, Zaritskaya and Margulis. In 1990, Teztel also graduated from Robert College in Istanbul. She was accepted with scholarship to the Oberlin College Conservatory in USA, where she worked with Prof. Lydia Frumkin for four years and earned her BM in Piano Performance. Here, she gave recitals and was accepted into the teaching-assistant program and graduated with the Oberlin Piano Jury Award. Teztel received her Master′s degree from Istanbul University State Conservatory in 1998. She completed her Doctorate studies at Istanbul Technical University with Dr. Erol Ucer Center for Advanced Music Research (MIAM) in 2007. There she worked with Prof. Dr. Cihat Aşkın and state artist, Ayşegül Sarıca.
Since her return to Turkey in 1994, Teztel continues to give many chamber music and solo concerts in various cities and festivals. She participated with various projects in major international festivals, such as the Istanbul Classical Music Festival, D-Marin Bodrum and Mersin Festivals. She has given numerous recitals with Cihat Aşkın in Turkey and abroad. She has also performed with artists, such as Alexander Markov, Albert Markov, Eduard Tadevosyan and Yair Kless. Teztel has played in numerous concerts as a member of the chamber music group, “Trio′le,” with Ayşegül Kirmanoğlu and Reyent Bölükbaşı and of the “Istanbul Modern Music Ensemble.” Teztel serves as a tutor in the piano department at Istanbul University, State Conservatory.
