Şebnem İşigüzel was born in Yalova in 1973. She studied Anthropology at Istanbul University. She worked as an editor and reporter in many newspapers, magazines and TV channels. Her first book “Hanene Ay Doğacak" was published in 1993. She received Yunus Nadi Story Award with this book. Later she published other books such as “Öykümü Kim Anlatacak?" (story, 1994), "Eski Dostum Kertenkele" (novel, 1996), "Neşeli Kadınlar Arasında" (essay, 2000), "Kaderimin Efendisi" (story, 2001), "Sarmaşık" (novel, 2002), "Çöplük" (novel, 2004) and "Resmigeçit" (novel, 2008). Currently, İşigüzel continues her writing in Istanbul.
