Zeynep Gedizlioğlu was born in Izmir in 1977. She studied oboe at Mimar Sinan University, State Conservatory. She then studied composition with Cengiz Tanc at her alma mater and graduated in 2000. Gedizlioğlu taught solfeggio and music theory at Mimar Sinan University (1997-98) and Academy Istanbul (2001). In 2001, she continued her study on composition with Prof. Theo Brandmüller at the Composition Department of Hochshule für Musik Saar (HFM) in Saarbrücken. She has also studied and worked composition with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe, Ivan Fedele in Strasbourg, Daniel Teruggi, and François Donato at the Group de Recherches Musicales (GRM) in Paris. In Forbach, Gedizlioğlu also worked electrical music at the music studio, Rendezvous Musique Nouvelle.

Gedizlioğlu has composed music for various plays. Her music has been performed throughout Europe and Turkey by many leading ensembles such as the Ensemble Recherche, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Ensemble Accroche Note. She has been invited to many festivals such as Musica in Strasbourg, Mediterranean Contemporary Music Festival, and ISCM World Music Days. She participated in the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt and the Centre Acanthes in Avignon. Gedizlioğlu has received many scholarships and prizes for her composition works. In 2007, she received a commission from the world-renowned Arditti String Quartet. Currently, she lives and works in Paris.
