Prof. Rıfat Şahiner was born in Ankara in 1969. He graduated from the Department of Art Education at Gazi University in 1992. He completed his master′s degree (1998) and doctoral degree, proficiency in Arts (2001) at Hacettepe University. He became an Associate Professor in 2005 and Professor in 2012. Prof. Şahiner has had 11 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He has also given his presentations in many international congresses and symposiums.
Since 1995, Sahiner has published many articles on Arts, Postmodernism, Popular Culture and Video Aesthetics in various newspapers and journals such as Sanat Dünyamız, Türkiye’de Sanat, Genç Sanat, Rh+ Sanat, Plato, Cumhuriyet and Radikal newspaper. He published his first book "Sanatta Postmodern Kırılmalar ya da Modernin Yapıbozumu" in 2008. In 1997-1998, he directed the Art Studio at the Art Council; and served as the Co-chairman and Executive Officer in the International Association of Plastic Arts’ Ankara chapter in 2000-2002. Currently, Prof. Şahiner continues to serve as a Professor at Yildiz Technical University. He is a member of IAA and AICA.
