Halil Altındere was born in Mardin in 1971. He graduated from the Painting Department at Çukurova University in 1996. He completed his master’s degree at the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Marmara University in 2000; and doctoral degree at Nantes Fine Arts School between 2000 and 2001. Since 1999, Altındere has been working as a publisher and co-editor of art-ist Contemporary Art Magazine. He has also worked as a curator since 2002. Altındere has participated in many international group exhibitions and biennials including International Istanbul Biennial (1997), Sao Paulo Biennial (1998) and Manifesta 4- Gwangju and Setinye Biennial (2002). He edited the book of “User’s Manual: 1986-2006 Turkish Contemporary Art” with Süreyya Evren in 2007. Currently Altındere continues his work in Istanbul.
