Melek Mazıcı

Melek Mazıcı was born in Istanbul in 1956. She graduated from the Painting Department at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1981. Two years later, she opened her first solo exhibition in Finland. She continued her studies at the Helsinki Fine Arts Academy between 1985 and 1989 and the Stockholm Royal Academy of Arts between 1989 and 1990. She has had many solo exhibitions and participated in lots of group exhibitions in France, Spain, Denmark and the USA. Mazıcı is mostly concentrated on etching and develops her own techniques in the field. Her etchings regularly displayed in Helsinki and Istanbul. Since 1990, her works has been collected and exhibited by several contemporary art museums located in different cities of Finland. As of today, Mazıcı continues to explore the endless possibilities of etching at her studio in Helsinki.
