Meral Değer was born in Izmir in 1960. After graduating from the Department of Graphical Design of Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Istanbul in 1983, she studied in the Department of Fashion Design at Zurich University of the Arts in Switzerland from 1984 to 1986. Between 1994 and 1999, Değer continued her education on jewelry design and techniques at Akademi Istanbul and other studios. Between 2004 and 2008, she learned glass design and techniques at the Foundation for Glassworks as well. From 1986-1996, she worked in various advertising agencies as a graphic artist and private companies as a public relations manager. From 2000-2003, she served as a lecturer in Yıldız Technical University and taught, “Object and Jewelry Design”, at the Department of Applied Arts. Değer received several prizes: Thrace-Union Prize for Graphic Design (1996) and Gold Jewelry Design Award of the World Gold Council (1997 and 1998). In 2010, Değer received "Camgeran" Glass Design Award from Eskişehir Glass Museum. Her works have been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad.
