Dr. Scott Redford is Nasser D Khalili Professor of Islamic Art and Archaeology at SOAS, University of London. After receiving his doctoral degree in Fine Arts at Harvard University in 1989, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the School of Foreign Service and Department of Fine Arts of Georgetown University from 1989 to 1997. In 1997-2008, he taught at the Program in Culture and Politics of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He also served as a director of the McGhee Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies from 1990 to 2008. In 2004-2005, he received a fellowship from ARIT, and worked as a visiting research fellow at the Department of Archaeology of Bilkent University.
In 2008-2013, Dr. Redford has taught the Crusade, the Seljuks, medieval Anatolia, history of urbanism, Islamic studies and architecture at Koç University. His recent research activities focus on Seljuk epigraphy, Seljuk gardens, archaeology of the Crusades and the medieval Mediterranean, medieval Anatolian archaeology and material culture, especially ceramics. Dr. Redford has participated in many national and international congresses, conferences, and seminars. He has published several books such as "Victory Inscribed: The Seljuk Fethiname on the Citadel Walls of Antalya Turkey" (Istanbul, 2008). He is a member of editorial boards of Muqarnas, Adalya, and Hacettepe University Journal of the Humanities.
