Prof. Dr. Semra Ögel

Dr. Semra Ögel is an Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University. She completed her doctoral degree with her dissertation "Anadolu Selçuklularının Taş Tezyinatı" (Stone Ornamentation of the Anatolian Seljuks) at Istanbul Technical University. In 1986 Prof. Dr. Ögel, who was then the Chair of the History of Architecture Department, established the Department of Art History with the help of professors in the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University. Dr. Ögel has participated in many national and international congresses, conferences, and seminars, and conducted many projects on cultural heritage. She has published many books and numerous articles on Seljuk and Ottoman art and architecture in various national and international journals and conference proceedings. Her primary publications include the following books: Anadolu Selçuklu Sanatı Üzerine Görüşler (Istanbul 1986), Anadolu′nun Selçuklu Çehresi (Istanbul: Akbank Kültür Yayınları, 1994), Armağan Mimarlık ve Sanat Tarihi Yazıları (Istanbul, 2000), and Seşçuklu Çağında Anadolu Sanatı, Doğan Kuban (Istanbul, 2002).
