Prof. Dr. Hatice Aynur has been Chair of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Şehir University since 2010. She specializes in the field of Ottoman Literature (XIV.-XX. centuries), Literary Culture and History of Ottomans, Istanbul in Ottoman Texts, Architectural Inscriptions of Ottoman Lands, Reading and Writing Culture of Ottomans, and History of Printed Books and Manuscripts Culture in the Ottoman Literature.

After graduating from the Department of Library Science in the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University in 1984, she completed her Master′s degree at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of Boğaziçi University in 1988 and her doctoral degree at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of Istanbul University in 1993. In 1994-1996 Dr. Aynur worked as a lecturer at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Boğaziçi University. In 1997-1998 she was invited to Japan, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Department of Turkish Studies as a visiting assistant professor. In 1999-2000 she was invited to the University of Michigan, Department of Near Eastern Studies as a visiting assistant professor. Dr. Aynur taught at Istanbul Technical University (2001-2002) and Yeditepe University (2001-2003) as an associate professor. In 2003-2010 she taught as an associate professor and professor at the Department of Turkish Language and Literature in the Faculty of Arts and Science of Yıldız Technical University. In 2007-2008 Dr. Aynur was invited again to Tokyo University of Foreign Studies as a visiting professor. In 2009 with Prof. Dr. Kayoko Hayashi (Tokyo University of Foreign Studies) and Prof. Dr. Hakan Karateke (University of Chicago), Prof. Aynur carried out the Ottoman inscription projects: 1299-1923, supported by Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Turk Tarih Kurumu. Prof. Dr. Aynur has attended and lectured at many international congresses and symposiums. She has published four books including "Akademik metin oluşturma teknikleri" and "III. Ahmed devri İstanbul çeşmeleri: 1703-1730." She has also written and published numerous articles for national and international journals. Dr. Aynur has edited many books and serials. She has also written many book reviews and articles for various encyclopedias.
