Ali Bayrak was born in Alaçam, Samsun in 1948. After he taught at primary school from 1968 to 1970, he continued his studies at the State Fine Art School (1970-1974) and became an assistant. In 1977, he won the first prize at the touristic gifts project competition, which was held by Turkish Ministry of Tourism. He participated in the government-sponsored Balkan handicraft exhibition in 1979. Bayrak became a teacher at Marmara University in 1986. He has had many exhibitions in Izmir, Istanbul and Gaziantep. In 1994, he won a special prize from the Tur-Art Design Competition. During the same year, he designed and produced Çanakkale ceramics for the Turkish Ministry of Culture. In 2004, Bayrak endeavored to establish a workshop for applying Industrial Ceramic designs by computer. He went to Arizona State University to research ceramics in 2004. Bayrak retired from the Ceramic and Glass Department at Marmara University in 2006. In 2007, he became the Head of Plastic Arts Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Haliç University in Istanbul. |
