Nazım Örki was born in Ankara in 1967. He studied illumination art (tezhip) and graduated from the Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. Since 1982, Örki has been working on decorative arts. He has prepared classic Seljuk and Ottoman illumination designs using golden foils in accordance with buildings such as palaces, mosques, hotels, villas, and residences in Turkey and abroad. He has also applied them on to stained glasses and mosaics. Örki has participated in many handicraft fairs in Turkey, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Turkmenistan, and Tatarstan.
