Viktor Ocal was born in Istanbul in 1971. He first worked to make jewelry with his master, Varujan. He learned the technique used to make Ottoman tombac. He also worked with Master Papken, who made French style (alafranga) jewelries, which is made of platinum and white gold. Later, Öcal learned a technique named anturaj which uses gold and silver wires, from Master Onno. Öcal also learned modern techniques for jewelry from his Masters, Civan and Herman. Öcal perfected his skills in platinum working with the support of Master Edmon who had featured on his art education. Öcal has worked for well-known jewelry firms as R&D Director. He also worked with Master Kadim Biros, who is the teacher of Master Onno. In 1992, Öcal started to make prototype models. He produced lots of pieces by negative sculpture technique. He now gives lectures on jewelry design at the Pera Fine Arts.
