Korhan Başaran is a NY based contemporary dancer and a choreographer. He is also the artistic director of an interdisciplinary company "Korhan Basaran and the Artists." With his gala performance of 2011 "I am Korhan, this is my dance," he received favorable reviews by many sources including the NY Times.
Başaran has been commissioned works by Nimbus Dance Works, MMDC, Akbank Sanat of Istanbul, and Project 44. In 2012, he attended the Between the Seas Festival as a guest artist. He teaches contemporary technique at dance schools in NY, including Steps on Broadway, Peridance, and DNA.
The other works Başaran has produced in NY include "K′s Search for L", "RAu", "This is not a Hamburger" and "a kin dof beau ty." In the fall of 2012, he took seven dancers and crew to Istanbul to perform "a kin dof beauty," at CRR and Koc University. In the spring of 2013, Başaran was invited to Istanbul again to premiere his new work "Heva," which relates to Rumi and Sufism. Currently, Başaran continues working on bringing groups to form a multi-national company to perform in Turkey, Europe and the U.S.
