Serhat Güdül was born in Berlin in 1977. In 1987, he entered the Ballet Department in the Ankara State Conservatory, which belongs to Hacettepe University. During his study, he worked with Vladimir Tolstuklin, who was a member of the Perm Ballet School. In 1994, Güdül received a fellowship and attended summer class of the Royal Ballet School in London. After graduating from the conservatory, he continued his master’s degree and completed at his alma mater. In 1996, Güdül participated in the 17th International Varna Ballet Contest and left among the 6 finalists. In the same year, he participated in the Concour de Paris Ballet and was among four finalists out of 230 dancers. In 1997, Güdül started performing as a soloist in the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. He participated in the First Mia Arbatova Ballet Contest and won the first prize. In 2001, Güdül participated in the International Helsinki Ballet Contest and became a finalist. In the next year, he participated in the 9th International Japanese Classical and Modern Dance Contest. He was among the final out of over 300 dancers and won jury special award. In 2003, he won a silver medal in the International Luxemburg Ballet Contest.
Güdül has worked as soloist and chief dancer with many famous choreographers. He has also choreographed many ballet works including “Tuşlardan Adımlara” (prepared with the pianist Emre Şen). In 2006, he started teaching in the Department of Modern Dance at Ankara University State Conservatory. He has tutored many young dancers including Kadir Okurer, who won the Grand Prix in the International Istanbul Ballet Contest in 2008. Currently, Güdül serves as a tutor in Ankara University State Conservatory and performs as soloist and chief dancer in the Ankara State Opera and Ballet.
