Volkan Ersoy

A. Volkan Ersoy was born in Bursa in 1975. He graduated from the Ballet Department in the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University in 1994. He attended several ballet festivals, summer academies and competitions in Europe. In 1995 Ersoy was invited to Osaka, Japan and joined the Masako Ohya Ballet Competition. He was selected the "Ballet Dancer of the Year" by TOBAV in 1998-1999 Season. Ersoy worked as general secretary of the State Conservatory Alumni Association from 2000-2004. In 2000 he became a board member of the Turkish Ministry of National Education Dream Stage Art Course. Ersoy currently continues to serve as Chair of the Ballet and Dance Department of the Course. In 2007 he completed his Master′s degree at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory. He then taught ballet at the Modern Dance Department of Ankara University State Conservatory from 2008-2010. In 2008 he coordinated the First International Istanbul Ballet Competition. In the same year, he choreographed and staged a ballet work "Rondo Alla Turca" with the Dream Dance Company. In the following year, Ersoy choreographed and staged a work "Aşkı Hürrem" with the Dream Dance Company in the "City" Festival, which was held in Legnica. He taught ballet at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet from 2009-2012. He choreographed "The Three Musketeers" (2010), "Notre Dame de Paris," (2011), "Sleeping beauty" (2011), and "Murad V." (2012) with Armağan Davran for the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. These works have been performed in the State Opera and Ballet in Antalya, Samsun, and Mersin. In 2013 Ersoy received the "Best Ballet Production" and the "Best Choreography" awards with Armağan Davran in the Donizetti Classical Music Awards. Ersoy choreographed "Tepegöz" for the 2014-2015 season of the Ankara State Theatre. In 2014, he was appointed to the position of director and art director in the Samsun State Opera and Ballet after he coordinated festivals, competitions and tour organizations of the General Directorate of the State Opera and Ballet. Ersoy currently continues his work in Samsun.
