Burçe Bekrek

Burçe Bekrek was born in Istanbul in 1983. She graduated from the Department of Textile and Fashion Design in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 2005. She then went to Italy to study the Image Consultancy at Istituto Marangoni in Milan. She completed her Master′s program in Fashion Styling at Istituto Marangoni. While studying, she worked at the projects for D&G and Dsquared2. She returned to Istanbul and took up the role of trend and concept advisor working alongside her father at "Burce Textile,” a family-owned textile company. Bekrek has also worked as designer as well as commercial stylist for a leading denim company in Istanbul. In 2008 she received Fashion TV Turkey’s "Most Promising Fashion Designer” award and started working as an instructor at the Department of Fashion and Textile Design in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Yeditepe University where she has been teaching "Fashion Styling” since 2008 and "Italian Art and Design” since 2012. As a freelancer, she has designed for major brands such as Porsche, Audi, and Bentley for the Auto Show fair. In 2010 Bekrek established her own brand "Burce Bekrek” and launched the first collection "Intro/Versa Fall 2011” at her new store in Nisantasi, Istanbul. With her first collection, she has shown at catwalk-show, which has been organized in Netherlands Consulate General in Istanbul. She was nominated for the Young Designer category in the Elle Style Awards Turkey. Bekrek showcased her "Interleave- Spring Summer 2013” collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. She attended ZipZone Trade Show during Paris Fashion Week with her "Causalità.8- Fall Winter 2013” collection. Since the first season, Berkek has showcased her collections at the trade shows like Premiere Berlin, Paris Sur Mode, and Who’s Next Paris. In 2013, Bekrek became a part of Fashion Incube Istanbul project. She also showcased her Spring Summer 2014 collection at Paris sur Mode during Paris Fashion Week and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul. She designed a "White Shirt Line” for the famous multi label brands store "BILSTORE” under the name of "Buree Bekrek for BILS” in Istanbul and showcased her new Fall Winter 2014 collection at Who’s Next Paris and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul. Bekrek currently lives and works in Istanbul.
