Mehmet Köymen

Mehmet Köymen was born in Istanbul in 1971. He started working as a fashion editor for Hürriyet newspaper and Elele magazine. He was inspired by fashion designer Yıldırım Mayruk and Cemil İpekçi when he met them to reportage; and changed his career from journalism to fashion design. With their support, Köymen founded his atelier in Teşvikiye. His first couture fashion show was held within the Vision Show in 1990. Köymen attended the Best Model of the World Turkey Contest and Vision Show four times, and exhibited his collection. Since 1999, he has had many fashion shows in Turkey and abroad. In 2011, he had his fashion show "Sultan′s collection" in the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
