Selim Baklacı

Selim Baklacı was born in Switzerland in 1986. After having four years of fashion education at Rüştü Uzel College, Ready-to-Wear Department, he graduated from the Textile Department at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in 2006. He won first place in the “Project Runway Turkey” competition in 2007. Baklacı introduced his first collection “Arrogance” as a closing show in the Collection Premiere Istanbul. In 2008, he exhibited his second collection “The Wools of Miss Rabia” in the Collection Premiere Istanbul.

Baklacı′s designs were exhibited at the Historical Museum in Rotterdam and the Museum of Applied Art in Cologne. In 2009, Baklacı launched his online shop website, making him the first fashion designer with an online shop website. His designs have been shown in many international fashion magazines including Vogue Turkey, Marie Claire, and Elle. Currently, Baklacı gives a “Creative Draped” class at Istanbul Fashion Academy, and works for Turkish brands such as Balizza, Atalar, and Passo as a consultant. He also works at his design studio in Galata, Istanbul.
