Zuhal Yorgancıoğlu

Zuhal Yorgancıoğlu was born in Izmir in 1926. She spent her childhood in many districts in Anatolia. After finishing Izmir Institute of the Republic for Girls, she graduated from the Department of Mode Painting at the Ankara Technical College for Girls in 1946. In 1961, she studied at Maryland Academy of Fine Arts. After returning to Turkey, Yorgancıoğlu created her collection and had her first fashion show in 1963. Since then, Yorgancıoğlu has participated in many international organizations, and has received numerous awards. She has reflected the splendor of the Ottoman Harems via colorful silk dresses with Anatolian motifs and a collage of old Turkish embroideries. Yorgancioglu weaves the culture of East and West into a unique synthesis through the antique embroideries of the Turkish heritage.
