Betül Tarıman

Betül Tarıman was born in Edirne in 1962. She graduated from the History Department in the Faculty of Letters at Hacettepe University. Her first poem was published in Kıyı magazine in 1992. Since then she has published her poems in various literary journals such as Varlık, Gösteri,  Şiir Odası, E Edebiyat, İnsancıl, Damar, Düşlem, Edebiyat ve Eleştiri, Son Kişot, İnsan, Bahçe, Yasakmeyve, Yeni Biçem, Akatalpa, Adam Sanat, Şiir Ülkesi, Eski, Şiiri Özlüyorum, Amik, Mühür, Kavram Karmaşa, Le poete travaille, İmgelem, Öteki – Siz, Ada, Yom Sanat, Üç Nokta, Dize, Esmer, and Cumartesi. Among her books are “Ay Soloları” (1995), “Üzgündü Kırlar” (1996), and “Kardan Harfler” (2000). She published a journal entitled "Toğlu Fotoğraflar." She has introduced books in Cumhuriyet newspaper supplement.

Tarıman has worked on poetry at a poetry workshop which she established. She organized an exhibition "Ben Kadın / Me The Women" with four female artists. She worked as a voluntary art director for Kastamonu disctirct traditional houses under the project of World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD). Tarıman is a founder of the Rıfat Ilgaz Poetry Awards, the Oğuz Atay Story Awards and of the Roman Prize. She received an award for her documentary film progect "Tarihin Gölgesinde Bir Kent Masalı" in the 6th Safranbolu International Golden Safran Documentary Film Festival. In 2005 she received a Behçet Necatigil Poetry Award. Tarıman currently continues her work in Antalya.
