Canan Tan was born in Ankara. She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Ankara University. She has received many awards in numerous literature competitions. She has written columns for Yeni Asır newspaper in Izmir, Milliyet Pazar newspaper, Mimoza magazine, and Kazete newspaper. She has published more than 10 books.

1979 First prize in the scenario competition, which was organized by Hürriyet newspaper (“Oğlum”)
1988, First mention prize, First National Nasrettin Hoca Humorous Story Competition
1996, Aziz Nesin Humorous Story competition, which was organized by the İnkılâp Book house (“İster Mor, İster Mavi”) She received the title of First Woman Writer of Humorous book in Turkey
1997, First mention prize, Children’s story competition, which was organized by the BU publish house
1997, First prize, Rıfat Ilgaz Humorous Story Competition (“Sol Ayağımın Başparmağı)
