Feridun Zaimoğlu was born in Bolu in 1964. He studied medical science and arts in Kiel, where he has been living and working for 30 years. His first book “Kafa Örtüsü” (Kanak Sprak) was published in 1995. His main theme is the issue of the second and third generation of Turkish immigrants to Germany. His essays and critiques of literary have published in leading German newspapers including Die Zeit, Die Welt, Spex and the Tafesspiegel. Between 1999 and 2000, Zaimoğlu worked at the National Theatre in Mannheim. In 2004, he received a fellow at the Freie Universitat in Berlin. In 2005, he exhibited his installation of flags with the title “Kanak Attak, the Third Turkish Siege of Vienna” at the Kunsthalle in Vienna. In 2006, he published his second story book “Leyla”. Zaimoğlu received the international book “Corine” award for his last book “Aşk Ateşi” (Liebesbrand).
