İsmail Uyaroğlu was born in Balıkesir in 1948. After graduating from the Department of Turkish Language at Istanbul Çapa Educational Institution, Uyaroğlu taught Turkish at middle schools in Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, Kars and Istanbul. He then worked various jobs. In 1980, Uyaroğlu started working at publication houses. He served as a proof reader and text writer for Cumhuriyet newspaper and wrote articles for encyclopedias. Uyaroğlu has had many awards for his works. His poems have been published in many literary magazines and reviews such as “Şiirleri Gösteri”, “Militan”, “Milliyet Sanat”, “Sanat Emeği”, “Yansıma”, “Yazko”, “Yeni A”, and “Yordam”. In 2012, Uyaroğlu received Melih Cevdet Award for his book ""5-7-5′ler".
