Kürşat Başar was born in Istanbul in 1963. After graduating from the Philosophy Department at Istanbul University, he worked at several press organizations. In 1989, he received the Haldun Taner Story Award for his book “Kış İkindisinin Evinde.” As a journalist, he started working while studying at university. He then served as a director in many newspapers and magazines. Başar was a publication director of Tempo magazine. He has written for many newspapers such as Yeni Yüzyıl, Star, and Akşam. He has published many books including “Konuştuğumuz Gibi Uzaklara” (1990), “Sen Olsaydın Yapmazdın, Biliyorum” (1992), “Aşkı Bulmanın ve Korumanın Yolları” (1996), and “Başucumda Müzik” (2003). He collected part of his writings and essays and published them as the book “İğreti Yaşamlar” and “Çok Güldük Ağlamayalım” (2006). Currently, Başar presents many TV programs and written columns for newspapers.
