Lale Müldür was born in Aydın in 1956. After finishing at Robert College, she went to Florence on a poetry fellowship. She then studied in the Electric Department and the Economic Department for one year each at Middle East Technical University. In 1977, Müldür went to England and graduated from the Economic Department at the University of Manchester. She completed her master’s degree in the Department of Sociology at the University of Essex. After living in Brussels between 1983 and 1986, she returned to Turkey in 1986. Her first poems were published in “Yazı” and “Yeni İnsan” magazines in 1980. Many of her poems and writings have been published in magazines such as “Gösteri”, “Defter”, “Şiir Atı”, “Oluşum”, “Mor Köpük”, “Yönelişler”, and “Sombahar”. Some of her poems were composed and used in many films. The collection of her poems was published as “Water Music” in Dublin. (Dublin: Poetry Ireland, 1998) Her poems, which were written for French painter Colette Deblé, were published as the “Yağmur Kızı Böyle Diyor” by the French Institute. Müldür wrote columns in Radikal newspaper for some time. She has represented Turkey in many poetry meetings. Her many poems have been translated into foreign languages. In 2007, Müldür received 11th Altın Portakal Poetry Award.
