Mıgırdiç Margosyan was born in Diyarbakır in 1938. He graduated from the Philosophy Department in the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul University. Between 1966 and 1972, he served as a director in the Surp Haç Tıbrevank Armenian High School in Üsküdar. He also taught philosophy, psychology, Armenian language and literature at the school. Later, he left teaching and started commercial activities, but continued writing. In 1984, a part of his essays on Armenian stories, which were published in Marmara newspaper, was collected and published under the name of the book “Mer Ayt Goğmeri (Mizim Oralar)”, with which he received the Eliz Kavukçuyan Literary Award in Paris in 1988. Margosyan has written many books such as “Gâvur Mahallesi” (1992), “Söyle Margos Nerelisen?” (1995), “Biletimiz İstanbul’a Kesildi” (1998), and “Dikrisi Aperen (Dicle Kıyılarından)” (1999). His book “Gâvur Mahallesi” has been translated into Kurdish and published with the name “Li Ha Me, Li Wan Deran (Bizim O Yöreler)” in 1999. In the same year, his articles, which were written for Evrensel newspaper, were published under the name of the book “Çengelliğine” in 1999. Currently, Margosyan continues writing columns “Kirveme Mektuplar” in Evrensel newspaper. In 2006, some of his articles were published in the book “Kirveme Mektuplar”. In 2010, he published the essay book “Kürdan” (2010).
