Dr. Murat Gülsoy

Dr. Murat Gülsoy was born in Istanbul in 1967. After graduating from the Department of Electric-Electronic Engineering at Boğaziçi University, he completed his Master′s degree at the Psychology Department at the same university. He then completed his doctoral degree in the Department of Electric-Electronic Engineering - Biomedical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. Since 2000 Dr. Gülsoy teaches at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Boğaziçi University.

In 1992-2002 Dr. Gülsoy established "Hayalet Gemi" literary magazine with his friends and published many stories and essays. In 1999 he published his first story book "Oysa Herkes Kendisiyle Meşgul" (Can publications, 1999). Since then he has published more than 12 books. His works explore the metaphysical potential of postmodern self-consciousness with ‘page turning’ plots. Gülsoy received Sait Faik Hikâye Armağanı for the book "Bu Kitabı Çalın" (2001), Yunus Nadi Roman Award for the book "Bu Filmin Kötü Adamı Benim" (2004), and Notre Dame de Sion Literary Award for the book "Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman" (2013). His books have been translated into many foreign languages. Dr. Gülsoy presented a program on literature for Açık Radio in 1995-2002, and a program on literary adaptations in cinema for TRT Turk in 2010-2013. Since 2004 he has been serving as the head of the editorial board of Bogazici University Press. He has also served as Director of the Boğaziçi University Nazım Hikmet Culture and Art Research Center since 2014.
