Sevin Okyay was born in Istanbul in 1942. She graduated from Arnavutköy American College for Girls. Since 1963, she has written several novels and cinema critiques and translated many works of cinema, literature, jazz and sports into Turkish. Okyay has also working as a journalist since 1976. Okyay is best known for translating the Harry Potter books with her son Kutlukhan Kutlu. She was a radio host and a teacher as well. Currently Okyay works as a literary critic, journalist, author, columnist, and translator.
