Rasim Özdenören was born in Maraş in 1940. After graduating from the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Journalism at Istanbul University, he worked at the State Planning Organization as a specialist. Between 1970 and 1971, he lived in the US to conduct his research. In 1975, Özdenören was appointed to a post of consultant in the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He also served as a supervisor in the same ministry for a year.
In 1984, Özdenören was awarded the “Short Story of the Year” by the Writers′ Union of Turkey for his work “Denize Açılan Kapı.” In 1978, he received jury special prize from Türkiye Milli Kültür Vakfı (Turkey’s National Cultural Foundation) for his essay book “İki Dünya.” His works “Çok Sesli Bir Ölüm” and “Çözülme” were cinematized for TV, and won jury special prize in the International 1977 Golden Prague TV Films Festival. In 2015 Özdenören received the Presidential Culture and Art Grand Award.
