Salih Bolat was born in Adana in 1956. He graduated from the Department of Social Politics at Gazi University in 1980. After completing his Master′s and doctoral degree at the Institute of Education Sciences of Hacettepe University, he taught scriptwriting, cinema and literature, dramatic writing, critical review, and theater history at several universities in Istanbul and Ankara.
In 1974 Bolat started writing stories in a culture and art page of Yeni Adana newspaper. He published his first poetry work in the Koza magazine, which he established with his friends in 1975. Bolat worked as a member of publication board of Yapıt magazine (1977-1980) and Petek magazine (1982-1983). He published his first poetry book "Yaşanan" in 1983. In 1995 he established Promete Journal with Cem Savran. Since 1980s, Boral has published his poems and prose in various magazines such as Yeni Olgu, Oluşum, Edebiyat 81, Türkiye Yazıları, Süreç, Yeni Düşün, Varlık, Gösteri, Düşler, Şiir-lik, Edebiyat ve Eleştiri, Defter, E, Kaçak Yayın, Evrensel Kültür and Yasakmeyve. Bolat wrote a column "Duygusal Düşünceler" in Siyah Beyaz newspaper in 1995-1997. In 1996 he produced and presented a radio program "Şiir Penceresi" on Radio C.
Bolat has received many awards for his poetry works including Metin Altıok Poetry Award (2015). He has served as a member of the selection committee of Ceyhun Atuf Kansu Poetry Award and Orhon Murat Arıburnu Poetry Awards. He also served as a board member of the litterateurs Association and the Writers Syndicate of Turkey. In 2010 Bolat was invited to the International Sete Poetry Festival in France. He currently continues his work in Adana.
