Selçuk Altun was born in Artvin in 1950. He graduated from the Management Department at Boğaziçi University. He worked in the finance sector and served as chairman of Yapı Kredi Bank, chairman of Superonline, and executive board director of the Yapı Kredi Publications. He has written many articles for magazines and newspapers and translated literary works. In 2004 he retired from his job to concentrate on his writing career.
Altun published his first novel "Yalnızlık Gittiğin Yoldan Gelir" (Loneliness Comes from the Road You Go Down) in 2001. It has been subsequently followed by many novels, essays, and a regular monthly column titled "Kitap Icin" (For The Love Of Books) in the Cumhuriyet newspaper. Altun currently continues his work in Istanbul.
