Sina Akyol was born in Ankara in 1950. After graduating from a School of Journalism and Public Relations, he worked as a program assistant at TRT. His poems have been published in many literary journals such as Şiirleri Adam Sanat, Dost, Varlık, and Yazko Edebiyat. Akyol has published many poetry books including "Su Tadına" (1972), "Lokmanla Geçen Şen Günlerim" (1982), "Haytalarla Hatmiler" (1990), "Ayda Tümör İzleri" (1994), "Avluda" (1996), "Belki Çiçek Dağına" (1998), "İkindi Kitap" (1999), "Olmanın Halleri" (2002), "Meğer Söz Bakır" (2006), "Yetinmek Sevindirir" (2007), "vadedimveylaya" (2011), "Salyangoz İlmi" (2014), "Kişisel Antologya" (2015), "İtiraz ve Teşekkür" (2015), and "Çırıl ve Çıplak" (2016). His poems have been translated into English, French, Danish, Bulgarian, Romanian, Greek, Lithuanian, Italian and Spanish. Akyol has received several poetry awards including a Halil Kocagöz Poetry Award (1995), a Yunus Nadi Poetry Award (1996), a second place in the 1997 Golden Orange Poetry Awards (1997), a Cemal Süreya Poetry Award (1997), and a Behçet Necatigil Poetry Award (2000).
