Mehmet Tanju Akerman
(1942-2016)

Mehmet Tanju Akerman was born in Izmit in 1942. He published his first poem in Sanat Dünyası journal in 1958. He then published his poems in various poetry journals such as Yelken, Otağ, and Zeren. Akerman worked as director for monthly magazines such as Kadıköy newspaper, Haberde Ekspres newspaper, Bir magazine and Sanat Yaprağı magazine of Vatan daily newspaper. He used pen names "M. Hrül Özgen" and "Mehmet Tanju" for his several articles. Akerman was a member of the Turkish Journalists′ Association and the Writers Syndicate of Turkey. He published 58 literary books. Akerman passed away in Istanbul in 2016.
