Atilla Dorsay was born in Izmir in 1939. After graduating from the Architecture Department at the State Academy of Fine Arts in 1964, he started writing film reviews for Cumhuriyet newspaper. He worked for Cumhuriyet newspaper for 27 years, and wrote film reviews for other newspapers such as Milliyet, Yeni Yüzyıl, and Sabah. Dorsay has also written film reviews on culture and life, and published more than 45 books. Since 1985, he has presented a film program for TRT 2. He also presented several music programs for TRT radio 3. Besides being a film critic, Dorsay wrote a film scenario for “Vatandaş Rıza” (1979). He acted in several films including “Bir yudum insan-Ayhan Isik” (1998), Yilmaz Güney’s “Adana-Paris” (1995), and “Içinden sehir geçen festival” (2007).
Dorsay has served as a jury member in various festivals and competitions. He is one of the members of IKSV executive boards, SIYAD founding members and honorary president. He serves as representative of Turkey in the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).
