Işıl Özgentürk was born in Gaziantep in 1948. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. She writes the column of “Sanata Bakış” on Cumhuriyet newspaper. She is the director of the film workshop in the Family Consulting Center, which belongs to the Kadıköy Municipality. For her film “Seni Seviyorum Rosa”, Özgentürk won many awards: Best Actress Award (for Sumru Yavrucuk), Best Visual Director Award in the Antalya Film Festival (1991); Award of Merit from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism (1991); Jury Special Prize in the International Istanbul Film Festival (1992); Best Third Film Award, Best Supporting Actor Award, Best Music Award, Best Lighting Award, and Best Editing Award in the Ankara International Film Festival (1992); and Best Actress Award, Best Visual Director Award in the Adana Altın Koza Film Festival (1992). Özgentürk has participated in many national and international film festivals, and her films have been screened on TV in Europe.
