Macit Koper was born in Istanbul in 1944. He started acting in the Beşiktaş Public House when he was a high School student. He studied theater with Muhsin Ertuğrul, Beklan Algan and Ayla Algan at the LCC Theatre School. In 1969-1979 Koper worked as an actor, dramaturge, and director at the Dostlar Theatre. He joined the Istanbul Municipality Theatre in the season of 1979-1980. He then went to Berlin and worked as playwright and director of the play "Giden, Tez Geri Dönmez." After coming back to Turkey, Koper worked as an actor, director and playwright in the Dostlar Theatre. In 1981-1982 he adapted Yaşar Kemal′s "Ağrı Dağı Efsanesi" to a play, which was staged in the same year. Besides theater plays, Koper has acted in various films and TV series. In Koper has received many awards including a honorary award in the 36th Istanbul Film Festival (2016). He currently continues his work in Istanbul.
