Mehmet Özgür was born in Korkuteli, Antalya in 1970. He graduated from the Theatre Department of Istanbul University. He started his career as an actor in Antalya in 1988. In 1989 he began working as an actor at the Antalya Public House; and joined the Antalya State Theatre in 1993. Özgür acted in a TV series for the first time in 2004. Since then he has performed not only in theater plays but also in many films and TV series. In 2013, he received the Best Support Actor Award for his role in the film "Tepenin Ardı" in the 45th SİYAD Turkish Cinema Awards and 24th Ankara Film Festival. Özgür currently works as the general art director of the Antalya Municipality Theatre.
