Reha Erdem was born in Istanbul in 1960. He finished Galatasaray High School. After graduating from Boğaziçi University, he went to Paris and studied at the Department of Cinema, University of Paris VIII. He completed his master’s degree on Plastic Arts at the same University. After returning to Turkey, Erdem shot a long film “A Ay” in 1989 and received many awards. Excepting "Kaç Para Kaç" (1999), "Korkuyorum Anne" (2004) and "Beş Vakit" (2008), he wrote scenario for all his films. As well as long films, Erdem has also shot short films and staged Jean Genet’s play “Hizmetçiler”. In 2009, Erdem received the Best Film Award for his film “Kosmos (Cosmos)” in the 46th Antalya International Altın Portakal Film Festival.
