Tayfun Pirselimoğlu was born in Trabzon in 1959. He graduated from the Middle East Technical University. He then studied painting and gravure at Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. Pirselimoğlu began shooting cinema in 1985. Before being a director, he worked as a screenwriter. In 2002, he shot the film “Hiçbiryerde” and received signal award in the Montreal Film Festival. Besides being a director, he is a writer, and has published four novels.
