Tolga Karaçelik was born in Istanbul in 1981. He graduated from The Koç School before receiving his Law degree from Marmara University. He later studied film in New York City. He wrote and directed five short films, and they were screened at various national and international film festivals. He debuted with feature film “Toll Booth.” His short film "Rapunzel" (2009) won an Audience Award at the Soho International Film Festival in New York, and it was one of the films selected by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism to represent Turkish cinema at the Berlinale and Cannes in 2010. Karaçelik wrote and directed Gevende’s music video for Çelik Çomak, which has been aired on international music channels such as MTV, VH1, and MEZZO. Karaçelik shot a documentary feature of Mehmet Güreli’s photography "Istanbul Through the Eyes of World Authors" (Dünya Yazarlarının Gözüyle İstanbul).
