Faruk Hacıhafızoğlu was born in 1965 in Kars. He finished primary-secondary and high school education in his hometown. He graduated from the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Akdeniz University in 1991. He then studied photography at Royal Society of Art, the University of Bristol in 1997 and graduated from the Department of Contemporary Media Practices at Westminster University in 2002. Before being a film director, Hacıhafızoğlu worked as a journalist, photographer, producer and director. He shot his first feature film "Snow Pirates" in 2015. For the film, Hacıhafızoğlu received the Best Film Award in the 3rd Rode Tulip Film Festival in Amsterdam and the Best Director Award in the 33rd International Fecr Film Festival in Tehran.
