Fatma Girik was born in Istanbul in 1942. She studied at Cağaloğlu High school for Girls, but quit. In 1958, she performed the leading role in the film “Leke”, which was directed by Seyfi Havaeri. After acting the leading role in the “Ölüm Peşimizde”, which was directed by Memduh Ün in 1961, she became a respected film star. Girik has acted in more than 190 films. In 1987, she started acting in TV drama “Gönül Dostları”. She has received many awards for her acting. Girik embarked on politics and became a mayor of Şişli district in Istanbul between 1989 and 1994. Currently, she continues to perform in films and TV dramas.
