Hülya Avşar was born in Edremit, Balıkesir in 1963. She is a famous Turkish actress, talk host and pop folk singer. She graduated from Ankara Cumhuriyet High School. In 1982, she and her family moved to Istanbul. Avşar competed in a beauty contest, which was organized by Bulvar magazine and she won. In 1983, she debuted in acting with the movie “Haram”, in which Fikret Hakan and Salih Güney starred. In following years, Avşar has acted leading role in more than 70 films. During this period, she won the best actress prize in a competition of Turkish Film Critics Association in 1989. In 1990, she received a jury special prize in the 9th International Tehran Film Festival with the movie “Benim Sinemalarım”, in which she performed with Yaman Okay. In the same year, Avşar was also awarded “the best actress” prize with the film “Berlin in Berlin” in the Moscow International Film Festival. Avşar received an Award of Merit from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She was also awarded the “one of the best 5 films” by the Turkish Film Critics Association.
In addition, Avşar took musical education and gave many concerts in Turkey and abroad. Avşar has released 9 albums and one single such as “Herşey Gönlünce Olsun” (1988), “Hatırlarmısın” (1990), “Hülya Gibi” (1991), “Dost musun Düşman mı” (1993), “Yarası Saklım” (1995), “Hayat Böyle" (1998), “Sevdim” (2000), and “Aşıklar Delidir” (2002) and “Kişiye Özel” (2009). In 2000, she won the “Best Female Singer” prize by Kral TV. Besides them, Avşar wrote as a columnist for Günaydın newspaper. She has performed in many TV programs and dramas. She has also presents talk shows, including “Hülya Avşar Show”. Avşar has published “Hülya” magazine. In 2002, she performed in the single play “Bugün Benim Doğum Günüm”. In the next year, she published her first book “Mavi Yansıma”. Currently, Avşar presents the talk show “Hülya Avşar Soruyor” on Habertürk TV.
