Mehmet Günsür was born in Istanbul in 1975. He started acting in several commercial films at the age of seven. In 1988, he performed in the TV series “Geçmiş Bahar Mimozaları” (TRT), which was directed by Okan Uysaler. After finishing at Italian High School, he studied at the Faculty of Communication of Marmara University. He became famous when he acted in Ferzan Özpetek’s film “Hamam”. In 1998, he received a Most Promising Actor Award in the Ankara International Film Festival for his role in “Hamam”. Günsür then moved to Italy and started acting not only in Turkish but also Italian and some American films. In 2003, he won the special jury award in the Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival for his role in “O Şimdi Asker”.
