Ahmet Boyacıoğlu was born in Zonguldak in 1953. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Ankara University. Between 1977 and 1985, he studied to be a surgeon in Germany. He worked more than 20 years as a general surgeon. Between 1988 and 1995, Boyacıoğlu served in the executive committee of the Ankara International Film Festival. Since 1995, he has been general secretary of the Festival on Wheels as well as chairing the Ankara Cinema Association. Between 2005 and 2007, he took on the role of Turkey’s national representative for Eurimages, the Council of Europe cinema fund. He shot two films “Cenaze Töreni” and “3 X 8 = 24” in 2001. He received a mention award for the “Cenaze Töreni” in the Kiev Film Festival. In 2011, he was awarded the Jury Special Award for his film “Siyah Beyaz” (2009) in the 59th Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival. He writes about cinema in several newspapers and magazines. Boyacıoğlu has written cinema critiques on Radikal newspaper and several magazines. He published the book “Oscar Filmleri”.
