Rezan Yeşilbaş was born in 1977. He graduated from the Cinema and TV Department at Marmara University in 2008. In the same year, he wrote and directed his first short film “Hüküm” (The Judgment), which is one of his series “Trilogy of Women.” “Hüküm” has competed in various national and international film festivals and won awards including the Audience Award in the Boston Film Festival. Yeşilbaş worked as the executive producer and the first assistant director with the internationally acknowledged Turkish director Zeki Demirkubuz for his feature films “Kıskanmak” (Envy, 2008) and “Yeraltı” (Inside, 2012). Yeşilbaş also worked as the executive producer for other several films. He received a script development grant from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism for his feature film project "Mesafeler" (Distances, 2010).
His second short film of the Trilogy called “Sessiz / Bé Deng” (Silent) has won many national and international awards, including Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at the 65th Cannes Film Festival short film competition in 2012. “Sessiz / Bé Deng” was a nominee for the European Academy Awards in 2012. The film was screened in the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the selection of “Spectrum Shorts.” It was also selected in the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival, short film competition in 2013. In 2013, Yeşilbaş received the Best Film Award for the “Sessiz / Bé Deng” in the First Kelar International Short Film Festival. He currently pursues his master’s degree at the Cinema and TV Department of Marmara University.
